PORT ADELAIDE ENFIELD COUNCIL GRANT
In January 2021 The Calligraphy Society of South Australia received a COVID 19 Response Grant to enable the purchase of a Document Camera and Data Projector. These items have made it possible for the Society to meet face to face for the Annual General Meeting in February and for subsequent monthly meetings and workshops. Social distancing is ensured through tutors teaching via the camera, computer, and projection onto a wall screen. A booking system for meetings has been introduced and is successfully supporting COVID appropriate attendance at workshops. Remote members can join us via Zoom.
The Calligraphy Society thanks the Port Adelaide Enfield Council for their generous support.
And now a word from our sponsors...
Port Adelaide Enfield Council kindly sponsored the Calligraphy Society of South Australia with a COVID Safe Response Grant. As you are all aware we received $2000 towards our new technology of Document Camera and Data Projector to enable us to meet this year.
We meet within the Council District of Port Adelaide Enfield and quite a number of you live in this area.
But did you know a lot happens in this council area? Visit the Port Adelaide Enfield website to find out more,, – or just go exploring.
There are an amazing number of events that happen in Port Adelaide Enfield as well. Lots for history buffs and classes on various subjects, including the arts. Visitto find out more.
And then there’s the SA Maritime Museum, National Railway Museum, SA Aviation Museum and the Port Adelaide Historical Museum.
Just in case you don’t have enough art gear there is also an Art Shop with a range of things that you might not find elsewhere.
The sign on the Masonic Building in Port Adelaide shows someone has a sense of lettering!
Our next meeting is coming up soon - Sunday 26th September at North East Community House, 1:15-4pm.
Let’s dive into the Italic Hand together. We’ll travel from Renaissance Italy to modern day. By splitting ourselves into 2 groups we aim to ensure we cater for all levels of skills. It’s up to you to decide which group to join – but you must let us know when you book your workshop spot.
Joy Adams will lead the session for Beginners and those who aren’t confident in
Anne Taylor will lead the session for Improvers, those of us who already have some
experience in Italic under their belt and want to learn more and develop advanced
skills in different variations and techniques.
Jan Brooks will take a ‘dive’ into the Calligrapher’s Kitbag and give us an in-depth
look at the equipment which a working calligrapher needs to have on hand.
As always, please book a spot with Vanessa (firstname.lastname@example.org) and
tell her which group you will be joining. If you need to book a Zoom spot we still
would like you to nominate which group you will be working with.
Please click on the "Meetings and Workshops" link above to access the equipment list for Sunday.
Please note that due to current Covid regulations masks must be worn for our meetings, thanks.
